Children and young people
At St Mark’s we give particular care and attention to younger members of the church family, including through employing a dedicated minister for children, young people and families.
All our staff and volunteers have Working With Children and police checks, and are screened and trained to ensure the safety of children. We are governed by the safe ministry protocols and requirements of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.
Shining Stars is our children’s program during the 10am Sunday service. Children gather in an adjacent room to the main worship space and share age-appropriate exploration of Bible passages, together with hands-on activities together. There are often portions of the main service during which children present or lead.
Youth Group meets fortnightly on Sunday afternoons (4-6pm) during term time, usually at St Mark’s (but sometimes for a particular activity at another location). Children from grade 5 and up are welcome. Some activities have a more social emphasis and others focus more on the shared journey of faith. Most times there is a meal to share as well!
After School Board Games meets on Tuesday afternoons (4-5pm) during term time, at St Mark’s. There are board games and other activities, and milkshakes to go with them. It’s aimed at children in grades 3-6, but school students of any age are welcome - along with siblings/parents/carers.
